Dog Licenses

Information regarding licensing and renewing licenses for dogs.

Obtaining a NEW dog license: Only town residents are allowed to license a dog in the Town of New Hartford. Applications are available to print out on our webpage should you wish to do so prior to coming to the office. The forms are available at the office as well. A current / up-to-date rabies certificate will be necessary. You can provide your dog's sterilization certificate if your dog has been spayed or neutered. Your dog does NOT need to be spayed or neutered to be licensed (although the fee differs, as below.

RENEWING your dog's license: You will receive a reminder letter a month prior to your license expiring. Mail, or bring to the Town Clerk's office, your renewal form; if you do not have it, we can look your license up by name of owner. If the dog's rabies has expired (or are about to expire within a month), you will need to bring in an up-to-date rabies certificate.

FEES:
Dogs that have been spayed or neutered: $11
Dogs that have not been spayed or neutered: $23
Fees are the same for both New and Renewed Licenses.

** Please Note: There is a late fee of $3 for each additional month past your due date for renewal.
