Richard Sherman has lived his entire life in the town of New Hartford having gone to St Mary’s catholic school in New York Mills and Graduating from New Hartford Central School. Rick continued with a career at the New York State Thruway Authority culminating at 36.5 years as Highway Maintenance Supervisor II with his retirement on November 30 th 2008. Additionally, Rick was not only a New Hartford Police Officer from September 1975 through October 31 st 2008 with 33 years of service but serves presently as a New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years. Rick’s time at the New Hartford Police Department and Fire Department in conjunction with his time at the New York State Thruway Authority prepared him for appointment by the New Hartford Town Board as Highway Superintendent for the town on December 1, 2008. He has served as president of the Oneida County Highway Superintendent’s Association as well as Vice President of the Oneida County Association of Towns.
