Youth Employment Program

The Town of New Hartford is offering year‑round opportunities for local teens ages 14–19 through its Youth Employment Program. The Town of New Hartford has partnered with the Oneida County Youth Bureau to offer this initiative to connect motivated youths with residents and businesses needing help with small or seasonal jobs such as babysitting, pet care, lawn work, painting, cleaning, shoveling, and basic maintenance.

Spring clean up and clean out is an ideal way to take advantage of this service.  Hire a youth to clean up your yard prior to your green waste pick up day, or utilize these able-bodied teenagers if you need a heavy item moved to the curb for tag pick up day.  (See your 2026 Trash and Brush flyer for pick up schedule).

The program helps young people build work readiness and life skills while supporting the community.  The business or resident (employer) works directly with the teen to set the rate of pay and compensates them directly.  The Town does not accept any money from either party.

Teens, residents and businesses interested are asked to call in to register their services and their needs.  We will match those in need with those who want to help!
